Elevate Your Practice: Fall Webinar Series for Paramedics
This fall, paramedics can take part in our offered webinar series designed to sharpen clinical skills and support professional growth. Each month will focus on a different area of practice, from advanced cardiac arrest management and septic shock decision-making, to mental health and wellness, and mastering high-acuity, low-opportunity (HALO) procedures. These evidence-based sessions combine practical strategies with the latest research, giving paramedics the tools they need to deliver high-quality care in complex and high-stakes situations.
September Webinar
Advanced Cardiac Arrest Management: Evidence-Based Strategies for Better Outcomes
Cardiac arrest care is constantly evolving, and small changes can make a big difference in survival. This session will explore advanced strategies for resuscitation, including anterior-posterior versus anterior-lateral pad placement, IV versus IO access, and the impact of drug timing on patient outcomes. We will review evidence-based interventions that increase rates of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and survivability to hospital discharge. Join us to refine your practice and strengthen your confidence in managing these high-stakes emergencies.
Dates: September 9, 16, 23, and 30 @ 1:00 p.m.

October Webinar
Septic Shock in the Field: Priorities, Physiology, and Practical Decision-Making
Septic shock remains one of the most challenging emergencies paramedics face. This webinar will review the priorities of care in sepsis, focusing on improving preload, optimizing oxygen delivery, and enhancing tissue perfusion. We’ll discuss how to balance fluids and vasopressors, when to consider airway management, and the role of lactate in guiding treatment. Using a physiologic approach, we will translate complex concepts into practical, evidence-based decision-making strategies for the prehospital environment.
Dates: October 7, 14, 21, and 28 @ 1:00 p.m.

November Webinar
Paramedic Wellness: Taking a Proactive Role in Your Mental Health
Mental health is as essential as physical health in the world of first response. This session will highlight the unique stressors faced by paramedics and review the programs available to support your wellbeing, including Employee and Family Assistance Programs, Peer Support Teams, Alberta Critical Incident Peer Support Network, MindBeacon, and short- and long-term reintegration initiatives modeled after the Edmonton Police Service program. Learn how to recognize when you or a colleague may need support, and how to access resources before crisis strikes.
Dates: November 4, 11, 18, and 25 @ 1:00 p.m.

December Webinar
HALO Skills: Mastering High-Acuity, Low-Opportunity Procedures
Some of the most critical interventions in prehospital care are also the least frequently performed. This webinar will provide a comprehensive review of high-acuity, low-opportunity (HALO) skills, including medication-facilitated airway management, needle decompression, intraosseous (IO) infusion, and surgical cricothyrotomy. We will cover indications, contraindications, and precautions, helping you sharpen your knowledge and readiness to perform these lifesaving procedures when the rare opportunity arises.
Dates: December 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 @ 1:00 p.m.
