Honouring National Public Safety Telecommunications Week

Medavie Health Services (MHS) West proudly honours the vital role of our Medical Communications Centre during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week (April 13-19, 2025).

MHS West receives calls for assistance through 911 emergency for the City of Saskatoon. These calls are answered, evaluated, and dispatched by our dedicated team of call evaluators and deployment specialists, who are part of our Medical Communications Centre.

“Every day, our call evaluators and deployment specialists serve as the critical first point of contact to keep our communities safe,” said Kyle Sereda, Chief of Paramedic Services and General Manager. “We are extremely proud of their dedication and skill - they are the lifeline behind every call.”

Whether coordinating emergency medical services, or guiding members of our community through critical situations, telecommunicators are the unseen backbone of public safety. Their ability to remain calm under pressure, provide lifesaving instructions, and deploy resources efficiently is instrumental in saving lives every day.

At MHS West, our call evaluators and deployment specialists exemplify our promise to providing high-quality emergency care. Their expertise and dedication embody our values and commitment to improving the wellbeing of Canadians.
