In collaboration with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), the Community Paramedicine program in Saskatoon has been operational since April 2015. This team of Community Paramedics provide support to residents within Long-Term Care facilities to assist with decreasing the number of Emergency Room visits, as well as supporting clients in their homes through collaboration with Primary Health Care.

Primary Health Care, Continuing Care and Emergency Services (Peak Time) Community Paramedics

Services Include:

  • Clinical Assessments & Diagnostics (12-Lead ECG)
  • Emergency Department Supports
  • Mental Health and Addiction Supports
  • Physician Consults
  • Phlebotomy Draws
  • Long Term Care and Personal Care Home Supports
  • Administration of Intravenous Fluids/Medications & Medication Assistance
  • Antibiotic Administration (First dose/Subsequent dose)
  • Wellness Checks & Vital Sign Monitoring
  • Pain and Symptom Management
  • Acute Care with Emergency Discharge Supports
  • Wound Care and Dressing Changes

Withdrawal Management Community Paramedics

A program to build addiction treatment capacity and help more individuals safely detox in their communities.

Services Include:

  • Clinical Assessments & Diagnostics (12-lead ECG)
  • Emergency and Acute Care Discharge Supports
  • Mental Health and Addiction Supports (Home Detox Treatment/Support/Medical Oversight)
  • Physician, Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatry Consults
  • Phlebotomy Draws
  • Administration of Intravenous Fluids/Medications & Medication Assistance
  • Antibiotic Administration (First Dose/Subsequent Dose)
  • Wellness Checks& Vital Sign Monitoring
  • Pain and Symptom Management
  • Wound Care and Dressing Changes
